1. Information We Collect

When you use SpeakRight, we collect:

  • Account information — your email address and authentication details, managed via Supabase.
  • Profile data — your name and avatar image, if you choose to upload one.
  • Resume content — text extracted from resumes you upload, used to personalize interview questions.
  • Voice recordings — audio you record during practice sessions, used to generate transcripts and feedback.
  • Practice session data — your answers, transcripts, scores, and AI-generated feedback.
  • Payment information — if you subscribe to Pro, billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate personalized interview questions tailored to your resume and target company.
  • To transcribe your voice recordings (via OpenAI Whisper) and analyze your answers (via Anthropic Claude) to provide coaching feedback.
  • To convert text to speech (via OpenAI TTS) for an interactive practice experience.
  • To track your progress, session history, and subscription status.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe.
  • To communicate with you about your account, billing, or support requests.

3. How We Store Your Data

Your account data, resume text, session history, and recordings are stored securely in Supabase (PostgreSQL with row-level security), ensuring only you can access your own data. Voice recordings and transcripts are processed by third-party AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) solely to generate your feedback and are not used by us for any other purpose.

4. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third parties strictly to provide our service:

  • Supabase — authentication and database storage.
  • OpenAI — speech-to-text transcription and text-to-speech synthesis.
  • Anthropic — analysis of your interview answers and question generation.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
  • Vercel — application hosting and serving.
  • Vercel Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookie-free page view analytics (no personal data is collected).
  • Sentry — error monitoring and application performance tracking. Error reports may include technical context such as browser type, URL, and anonymized user identifiers.
  • Serper — web search API used to gather publicly available interview context for question generation. No personal data is sent.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy: Supabase, OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Vercel, and Sentry.

5. Voice Data & Biometric Information

Your practice session recordings contain your voice. In some jurisdictions (such as Illinois, Texas, and Washington), voice recordings used to identify an individual may be considered biometric information subject to additional legal protections.

  • We use your voice recordings solely to generate a text transcript and provide interview feedback — we do not use them to create a voiceprint, identify you across sessions, or for any biometric identification or authentication purpose.
  • Recordings are sent to OpenAI for transcription and are not retained by us for any purpose beyond generating your session transcript and feedback.
  • We do not sell, license, or otherwise disclose your voice recordings to any third party for marketing or other purposes.
  • You may request deletion of your voice recordings at any time by deleting your account, or by contacting us at the email below.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information, resume text, session transcripts, scores, and feedback for as long as your account remains active, so that you can review your practice history and track your progress over time.

  • Raw audio recordings are processed for transcription and are not retained in long-term storage beyond what is needed to generate your transcript and feedback.
  • If you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, resume, session history, transcripts, and any associated recordings within 30 days, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations (e.g., billing records required for tax purposes).
  • Backups containing your data may persist for a limited additional period before being purged as part of our routine backup rotation.

7. Your Rights

You can update your profile information, change your password, or cancel your subscription at any time from your Settings page. You may permanently delete your account and all associated data (sessions, resume, recordings, and profile) from Settings → Account → Delete account. This action is irreversible.

8. Cookies

SpeakRight uses only essential cookies required for the service to function:

  • Authentication cookies — set by Supabase to maintain your login session. These are strictly functional and cannot be used to track you across other websites.

We do not use advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free and does not collect personal data.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know — you may request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete — you may request that we delete your personal information. You can do this at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account.
  • Right to opt out of sale — we do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we have never done so.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@speakright.ai or delete your account directly from your Settings page.

10. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and row-level access controls, to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

SpeakRight is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
